Dermaplaning
This is a safe and effective manual exfoliation procedure. Using a sterile, surgical steel scalpel, the skin’s surface is gently shaved, removing the outer layer of the epidermis as well as the “peach fuzz” vellus hair.
During this treatment 2-3 weeks of dead skin cells are removed, triggering the cell regeneration process and allows produces to better penetrate the skin
A common question regarding this treatment is – will the vellus hair (fine, short hairs covering much of the body surface), become terminal hairs (Long, think hairs found on scalp or pubic region)? The answer is no. The only time this happens is during puberty and are attributed to testosterone production. Dermaplaning is simply removing the hair at the skins surface. Although, it may feel thicker when it first grows. This is simply due to the blunt tip of the hair and will return to normal.
This treatment is extremely safe and suitable for most skin types/conditions; even pregnant and breastfeeding clients. It’s a great all-rounder. Only those suffering with severe acne or excessively oily skin wouldn’t be candidates. A peel would work wonders though!
